Cleveland Print Room invites artists/photographers to explore analog photography with our Camera Share Program. 

Overview

Cleveland Print Room invites artists/photographers to explore analog photography with our Camera Share Program pilot program. Using equipment donated to CPR, each participant will receive a film camera with one roll of color and one roll of black-and-white film for approximately two weeks responding to a prompt related to our current organizational focal points. CPR will handle film development as well as the scanning, archiving, and sharing of the negatives. As a part of this program, participants’ photos can be featured on any number of CPR platforms or printed materials.

Prompt

Our current project, an alternative property inventory, centers the built environment and the stories of the citizens that live within and outside of Cleveland’s brick and mortar. Through this project we have invited participants and prospective viewers into a dialogue about observation and place. Your perspective and experience of the city you live in are valuable and an essential part of building a visual language and culture of what that particular city, be it Cleveland or otherwise, was and is.  We encourage you to utilize this camera share experience to investigate your surroundings and demonstrate how they can and do shape your point of view.

Partnership Opportunities

Another component of this program aims to utilize our equipment and inviting guest photographers to partner with other organizations, venues, companies, etc to photograph/document events, experiences, parties, and other forms of communal gatherings.  This is done to serve our partners at little to no cost while also inviting photographers to use our equipment in the filed in hopes of building up a varied bank of images that can demonstrate the wide reach of photography for potential use for social media, zine image curation, and other forms of public art.
