We need now more than ever to see things in bigger ways then what most of us have always been taught; to broaden our own understanding and knowledge of individuals with special needs. Us is an exploration of our family’s journey with autism. This body of work is an outlet for both myself and for Keegan, bridging the world of an atypical artist and an artist on the autism spectrum. This current series builds on our previous work. Us is so much more than just a collaboration. It's a self-portrait of both Keegan and me.

There is so much we can learn from children with autism. With Keegan, we can learn through his creativity. His pure passion and devotion for creating moves me beyond words. To see a child who is non-verbal push limits, and finds his voice through the creation of his work. Keegan is drawn to the repetition of characters and logos he sees on his favorite DVD covers. Ranging from Pixar to the THX logo and many of his favorite Disney characters.Painting for myself is far more used as a type of therapy than anything else. It gives me purpose and the healing I need in every aspect of my life.

Painting with Keegan and with his older brother Dylan has been about bringing our journey full circle. Getting to share my passion with them that has evolved in the most natural, and brought about a hunger for creating for themselves.

Food and wine will be provided.

Hosted by Nolan Beck and the Cleveland Print Room.
