Cleveland Print Room

2019 Residency

Residency Dates:

Summer start: June & July

Fall start: September & October

The Cleveland Print Room (CPR) was established in 2013 as an alternative for study in the photographic visual arts offering a community-oriented and collaborative learning experience. CPR is inviting applications for our new 8 week artist-in-residence program to begin this summer and fall. This has been put into practice in order to provide support and structure for photographers and visual artists wanting to explore photography in the CPR darkroom and workspace.

Surrounded by an immersive photographic community, artists are given access to CPR’s darkroom for both silver gelatin and alternative printmaking. The selected artists will receive a stipend and have full access to CPR facilities throughout the eight week residency.

The artist will plan for an exhibition/open studio of their work, a public artist talk or demo. Resident artists may also be invited to participate in CPR’s instructional classes and workshops. Participation may also take the form of a guest lecture, contribution to photography critiques, or consultation with students, as is appropriate to the resident's interests and objectives. CPR requests that each participant donate a single artwork to our archive at the completion of their residency. This residency gives artists the space and freedom to experiment with traditional and alternative photographic processes while encouraging projects that engage the artist in the city and its neighborhoods to create socially-engaged work.

If you have any questions regarding the residency program or application, please contact Shari Wilkins at shari@clevelandprintroom.com.

CPR’s  mission: Advance the art and appreciation of the photographic image in all its forms by providing affordable access to a community darkroom and workspace, gallery exhibitions, educational programs and collaborative outreach.

Residency participants will receive a one-year membership to the Cleveland Print Room.
